THE NANO GAME
The 2nd edition of the IPL the world’s greatest tamasha have ended and SIR Mody can sigh in relief..Am amazed by the megalomaniac’s audosity in taking on another tyrant in home ministers office, and the Indian public and staging it quiet successfully in another continent in just under 2 weeks time speaks volumes about human capacity to do the impossible, though logical thinking points out that, if both parties had sense to compromise ,the same could have been conducted here itself with out all this hoopla, ultimately it was Mody who had the last laugh. Though any true lover of the game ,leave alone a connoissure would have dismissed the T20 as the farce of the century, any sane person can conclude with out much serious thought that it is going to stay for purely commercial and entertainement reasons of the meanest quality, though it is going to change the pace of the other two versions of the game and we are in for many stupid shots like the scoop shot behind the wicket keeper .Luckily the bowlers had a say in the games in south Africa especially the slow bowlers unlike the 1’st edition where the poor bowlers were reduced to buffoon status.
Every day for the last 3 weeks I promptly take seat in front of my t.v with a half bottle of gin and plenty of snacks and a pack of wills, sharp at 8 pm,not bothered about which team plays which and not bothered about the players since at any given date I can be assured of watching atleast 10 great players of international status who can play mercenary cricket and that too with out much sledging and am least bothered about the outcome,so no tension too.Next day you don’t have any hang over and conveniently forget yesterdays teams. Its a win-win situation for all the cricketers, the so called administers, the advertisers and the fans who know they have been fooled but still enjoy the tamasha.True product of globalization, JAI HO!
